Perhaps his most conspicuous trait would be the unnaturally large pupil of his left eye, hidden behind an ever-present monocle. Any familiar with the condition would recognize it easily as anisocoria. At a distance, it would only appear as if his left eye was significantly darker than the other, akin to heterochromia.

Jacques's accent and affected speech are plainly Ishgardian in origin, and his eccentric tastes mark him as a man of means. But any familiar with the gossip of the noble houses of his homeland would know that this is no longer the case. While he had indeed been brought up as minor nobility in the house of Fauconnier, he is well-known to have been disgraced some time ago.Disowned and disinherited, most speculate that the elezen's wanton squandering of his family wealth was what led to his downfall. Some say it was due to the persistent rumours of a particularly lascivious nature, coupled with numerous tales that he'd been caught abed with those of all genders and social classes. Fewer recalled his failed academic career with the Astrologicum, with many of his one-time peers gossiping of his innate lack of talent for any aetheric manipulation, let alone Astromancy.The only reliable fact anyone seems to have gathered around the sordid affair is that the elder brother of the family, one Jean Fauconnier, perished in a training accident not long before the young Jacques's familial banishment. But it would seem that any lingering curiosities around those happenings were quelled amongst the upper echelons by the Fauconnier matriarch--Jacques's widowed mother, Jeanne Fauconnier--before they could spread.And yet, despite having no apparent source of funding, Jacques has yet to be seen lacking in coin for which to lavishly—and publicly—spend. There have been no few whispers about just how he's managed to hold onto this extravagant lifestyle, ranging from ruinous debts to dealings with unseemly characters. But his recruitment to an adventuring company known as the Nomad Aegis within the last year would seem the most likely answer, given the compensations for such a hazardous occupation.Since his unspoken exile from Coerthan polite society, the Elezen has been reported to have fled to the bustling metropolis of Kugane. There, he has seemingly taken on his new social status of an eccentric foreigner with aplomb. Oft seen patronizing a wide variety of establishments both in Hingashi and abroad, he is said to be quite genial company with any willing to share in his mischievous revelry.

It is quite possible that anyone from his former homeland or who is otherwise familiar with the happenings of the lower houses of Isghardian nobility would know of this disgraced lordling. Though oft overshadowed by his elder brother, many have met him at least in passing at formal functions. Some few may even count themselves fortunate enough to have experienced his enchanting flattery firsthand!

  • Fantastic Fencer

Tourney-goers across Coerthas may have heard tell of Jacques—still of the name Fauconnier at the time—as being a fierce competitor in many a duel. Claiming the title of champion in no few contests, his deft but garish performances were likely to have made an impression on any in the audience.

  • Inebrient Connoisseur

Trigger Warnings: Addiction

Amid many an unseemly den of debauchery, Jacques has been publicly seen within the past few years to partake of a myriad of substances, legal or otherwise. It isn't unlikely that many an individual have met him personally in one of the many somnus dens of the Shirogane district, though the Elezen himself may find the encounter a bit foggy. His memory is sure to improve over a shared bottle of wine! Or perhaps something stronger...

  • Underworld Dealings

Those who run in certain circles with less-than-reputable creditors likely have heard whispers of an Ishgardian blue-blood who is quickly souring the patience of more than a few loan sharks. Some speculate gambling debts, others say his alcoholism is finally racking up.
